Bansko is a 15th century settlement, which elegantly blends history with modern ski, golf and spa facilities.
Bansko was also known as a cultural and spiritual center. This status led residents to build Trinity church in 1835, which became a long standing symbol of Bansko. The clock on the tower was mounted in 1866 and even today is recognized today as an unprecedented achievement of its days.
Nowadays, this mountainous, historic town is located on 936 m altitude with ski slopes from 1,100 – 2,500 m above the sea level.
Bansko is located 143 km South of Sofia, at the foothills of Pirin Mountain; one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains, which is UNESCO designated National Park. The transfer time from Sofia to Bansko is approximately 2.5 hours drive.
